One benefit which I can assure you is in abundance when we walk with God, is a rise to higher levels of Blessings, favors, prosperity, career, health and spiritual maturity.
There are times in life when you might feel totally stagnant and stuck at a point. You have this very strong feeling that you are not where you are supposed to be in life. Things seem to be happening for others; they are getting better paying jobs and being promoted or their businesses are expanding and growing to a larger scale. But for you, its either not happening, or happening very slowly. This does not mean that you are setting your milestones based in other peoples achievements, rather I believe this stems from a deep desire and nature that we all have, a sense of panic when things are not happening for us as we anticipated.
Deuteronomy 1:6 says,
‘The LORD our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: “You have dwelt long enough at this mountain.’
Are you broke, jobless, sick, failing your exams, confused, single, childless, a borrower, failing in your business or experiencing snail speed growth in any area of your life? God is telling you right now that you have been stagnant long enough. It is time to move to the next level and take your place among the achievers.
1. STOP BEING AFRAID.
Fear is the number one factor that causes broken and dead visions. The fear of failing often prevents a lot of people from starting out their vision. The fear of not meeting target and fear of being defeated also halts dreams.
What is that thing that is a limitation for you?
Is it money?
(Haggai 2:8 NIV)
‘The silver is mine and the gold is mine,’ declares the Lord Almighty.
Is it sickness or pains?
Exodus 23:25 KJV
And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
Is it fear of failure?
Job 22:28 KJV
Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
God has said it all, He has the answer to all your limitations, He wants you. To overcome the fear and tension and rely totally on Him for He is our great assurance.
2. DONT COMPARE WITH ANYONE.
By what standard do you measure your success? By what yardstick do you determine your progress in life?
Stop comparing yourself with your former classmates, childhood friends, colleagues, siblings and contractors. The fact that you started with someone but you are currently falling behind does not mean that you are a failure. Yes, you need to work harder, but using other people as your standard for success will only keep you in frustration as you will constantly be competing with them and never learn any of life’s valuable lessons.
In the same vain, you must never badmouth someone else’s success or progress. It is an obvious sign of jealousy and envy.
3. DROP EXCUSES
One thing you must always bear in mind, is that the next level is filled with challenges. How do you see challenges? David saw Goliath as an obstacle too big to be missed. The rest of the Israelites were scared and saw Goliath as an excuse.
(Numbers 13:27-29 MSG)
They reported to the whole congregation and showed them the fruit of the land. Then they told the story of their trip: “We went to the land to which you sent us and, oh! It does flow with milk and honey! Just look at this fruit! The only thing is that the people who live there are fierce, their cities are huge and well fortified. Worse yet, we saw descendants of the giant Anak. Amalekites are spread out in the Negev; Hittites, Jebusites, and Amorites hold the hill country; and the Canaanites are established on the Mediterranean Sea and along the Jordan.”
These Israelites could prove that the land they were sent to spy on was fruitful and beautiful, but, they chose to focus on the negative aspects of it, and they allowed that fear to consume them.
You have stayed long enough in your current state, so you must be willing to make sacrifices, face your fears and get committed to move to the next level. Remove the ‘BUT’ in your life. If something is good, focus on the good and don’t let your mind get distracted with the spoilers.
4. CHANGE YOUR MINDSET
Bear in mind, the reason God wants us to move to the next level, is because He wants us to become more of what He has planned for us and achieve our purpose. It is not for us to oppress people and make a show of it.
Change your mindset about success; not everyone who is rich got their illegally or via dubious means. Change your mindset about health; it is possible to live a life void of sickness, pains and any ailments because that is Gods desire for us:
(3 John 1:2 KJV)
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Change your mindset about Christianity; you do not have to remain at a low level of spirituality when there are higher realms to be reached.
Change your mindset about marriage; the more you insist that there are not good guys (or ladies) out there, the less likely you are to find your life partner.
5. FOCUS IN YOUR STRENGTH
Forget about the things you cannot do, forget your limitations and focus on those things you can do and do them well. Look within, there is something you are good at, something you can do better than anyone else. Focus on it, sharpen those skills, get trained to be better at it and I bet you that you would be well on your way into the next level faster than if you sat around lamenting about all the nice things you cannot do.
Focus on what makes you a good spouse, a great staff, a good cook, a good listener, a good writer, a good artist, a good student or a good seamstress.
Start with what you can do, what you can do without money, and what you can do without stress. Make a move, do your research, make enquiry, write out your vision and develop a strategy to achieve it.
Forget about the mistakes of the past and forge ahead to become the best at what you are good at. Don’t let mistakes keep you stranded.
(Philippians 3:13 KJV)
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before..
6. WALK BY FAITH
If you want to move to the next level, move up to greater heights and take your position doing exploits in life, then you have to learn never to depend on people, because people disappoint. Some people will always think of themselves first, and only fit you into their plans when they have fulfilled all their personal obligations. It sounds harsh and unfair, but its a hard truth which I am sure you have learnt already.
Stop depending on the connection you think you have with ‘the people in charge’ who keep dodging your calls and hiding from you. Stop having high expectations from your ‘big uncles and aunties in the city’ who keep making excuses for not meeting up to your requests.
Work hard, be diligent and let God bless the works of your hands.
Have complete and unwavering faith in God and in His timing because it will always surely end in praise.
Having faith in God is probably the most difficult thing you would ever do but it is the most rewarding; He always makes a way even in the most difficult and confusing situations.
(Mark 11:24 KJV)
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Look at your dreams and pursue it holding on to Gods promises. Drop all excuses, fears and doubts that are keeping you from moving for there is a better place for you and you must take it.
I hope this post helpful to you in some ways. Please share with your friends; I’ll appreciate it.
