HOW TO LIGHTEN YOUR MOOD

BE OF GOOD CHEER

A smile is the quickest way to make a friend; it is the first sign that shows you are happy. Wearing a smiling on your face is a sign that shows you are pleased, happy, content and at peace. Everyone should wear a smile. A frown shows you are not happy; it’s the quickest way to repel people from you. It shows you are bored, uninterested, displeased, sad, irritated and worried about something.

start smile

You may say you don’t frown, that you are only keeping a straight face, and that’s just how your face is. But I’ll tell you that if it looks like a frown, then indeed it is a frown. A frown pushes people away. Nobody wants to be around a sad person, or around someone who is in a bad mood. Your face is a reflection of what is going on inside you, so if your face looks sad and scary, then I daresay that you are not one to be with.

Have you been accused of frowning too much lately? Do you think you are in a low mood more often than not? Does your mood swing from high to low without your control? Do you think you have no business smiling when there is nothing exciting to smile about? If you want to make a change and find reasons to wear a smile or lighten your mood, please keep reading.

  1. A MILLION REASONS TO SMILE

I am totally convinced that life is beautiful; every new day is an opportunity for love, joy, upliftment, favours and changes. Some days may be bad, things might not go as planned or might seem hopeless, but why focus on things you cannot change? Why ponder on things that are depressing and tormenting? Choose to be happy for a new day, for good health, for a roof over your head and a bed to sleep on, for food to eat and water to drink, for a job, family, good friends, safety. You might not be where you want to be, you might have a very long way to go; but be grateful that your today is better than yesterday. When there is life, there is hope, be happy that you have the gift of another day to do exploits.

  1. PRAY ABOUT IT

If things are not going as planned, if you find yourself not making any progress in your life or totally confused, helpless and nothing to be grateful for or happy about, run to God. Don’t panic, don’t fret, and don’t be agitated that another year will soon end without any increase in your status. If you really want a change so bad, then you have to first pray so hard. Pour out your heart to God; ask him to give you a reason to be happy, a reason to smile and a reason to be grateful. There might seem to be no way out and no hope, but God is a master of stubborn situations.

  1. STOP WORRYING

Thinking never solves a problem. Sure, brainstorming can bring solutions, but can you honestly say that while you sit there with your palm under your chin and with that forlorn look and wrinkled face, that you are brainstorming? No, you are worrying. Don’t worry, be happy. Be happy because God is at work, God is turning things around for you. God has not forgotten you, you may be mocked for your faith, but I promise that all your worrying will be for nothing because God will surprise you. No matter how bad your situation is, there are a million other situations that are much worse and more depressing than yours so at least be grateful that you are not the worst case.

  1. SAY CHEESE

You have a camera right? Great! Take a picture of yourself with that frown and sad look on your face. Now, show me your best smile, say cheese and take another picture. Compare the two photos, which makes you look more beautiful, better, more approachable and friendlier? Of course the one with the cute smile!! Try all you can to make sure you have that smile on your face every time you get up from your bed. Your smile adds colour to life, makes the world a beautiful place and makes you attract beautiful things always.

  1. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH HAPPY PEOPLE

When you are with nice and happy people, you think happy thoughts; your problems don’t seem to be so big and confusing anymore and you find yourself smiling so much. Make friends with people who have a good sense of humour, people who are positive and people who bring out the best in you. Run from people who make you sad and belittle you even if it’s in private. The fact that people should tell you the truth does not mean they shouldn’t be sensitive to your feelings. Get the truth with some love.

  1. STOP BEING NEUTRAL

Don’t sit on the fence; don’t be neither here nor there. Stop hiding and start caring about even the simplest things in life; enjoy bright colours, dance and sing loudly when you give praises to God in church, laugh at people’s jokes, clap and applaud people’s success, congratulate your friends, share their joy and become a source of joy and inspiration to someone. Take a risk and step out of your routine life. Lighten your mood; stop complaining, stop thinking too much and definitely stop hiding your emotions.

  1. ACCEPT PEOPLE AND HOW THEY ARE

Peoples hurt and disappointments are the greatest cause of sadness; when someone close to you is insensitive, rude or abusive to you, it can make you run into your shell and cover up with a cloak of unhappiness. If you decide to run from people entirely and become more reserved and not laugh or make friends anymore because you had a misunderstanding with someone, you will end up sad and lonely and no one will want to relate with you because you will become unapproachable. Learn to forgive easily and become more tolerant of people and their mischief. Forgive and move on, don’t bear grudges and take life easy.

Choose to be happy, choose to smile, and choose to live life with a smile in spite of all the challenges, pains and hurts that abound. Give love easily and eventually love is all you will get. Happiness is a choice; I choose to be happy always.

I hope this post will make you smile and lighten your mood. Please like and share with your friends as always.

Cheers
